Soothing Skin Suggestions for Mask Wearers

Unique times call for unique beauty methods. Whether you have had a dedicated skincare regimen in the past, or you are like my best friend Jen, who is a nurse, and are noticing the effects of wearing a mask- Updating the way you take care of your skin is essential during these crazy times.

The best way to start the mask-wearing healing process is to book one of my Rezenerate facials. With this facial there is cleansing, calming, healing, and proper hydration from product infusion and increased cellular turnover. We can also chat about what care is needed at home to maintain these results. You’ll leave this facial feeling like a million bucks! For more information, click here to watch my Facebook live video.

The following regimen and ingredients are recommended to soothe and hydrate your face:

  • Cleanser: Avoid gel cleansers, and instead choose a creamy facial wash. These cleansers are better for dry, irritated skin. Calming ingredients like chamomile, sage and horsetail have healing, soothing and anti-inflammatory properties that won’t clog your pores.
  • Heal: Restore your skin with products that include antioxidants, (eg L-ascorbic acids, and DMAE), and other ingredients that heal and protect your skin’s barrier such as Jojoba oil and Allantoin. Allantoin is a wound healer and anti-inflammatory that can help to heal old break out spots that are still inflamed, but no longer active. Jen loves Zen therapy by DNA skin institute. Zen therapy gel has a combination of all these ingredients that leave her skin feeling nourished and soothed.
  • Repair: Breakouts are bound to happen due to the added stress combined with heat, friction and debris accumulation. Serums with salicylic acid, retinol and azelaic acid will help penetrate clogged pores, reduce breakouts and help prevent further breakouts.
  • Moisturize: Choose a heavier moisturizer if your skin is irritated to help calm and protect – especially at night. Ingredients such as rose oil helps to stabilize the ph of the skin, aids in moisture retention and encourages healthy cell growth.
  • Protect: Chemical free sunscreens are recommended for sensitive skin. Products with physical sun blockers like Zinc will help to protect your skin from damaging UVA and UVB rays. There is also no wait needed, as it protects you as soon as it’s applied.

I hope you are keeping your chin up and hanging in there. Remember to be good to yourself and your skin!

Michele
